Netiquette for Acceptance of a Job or Other Situation - via Netiquette IQ
"Vini, vidi, vici"
- Julius Caesar
Congratulations!
You have been given a positive answer on your job or other
application. All offers and conditions have been accepted. Although a
brief celebration is in order, there is much more to be done. It is a time to be particularly mindful of
good Netiquette. This particular time in
the hiring process should not witness a change in tone. This can immediately inspire buyer’s
remorse. Here are some strongly
recommended Netiquette processes to follow:
If you are going to accept the
position be immediately forthcoming.
Graciously thank all involved,
recruiter, hirer, references.
Stay in communications.
Ask for next steps – ask for
clarification.
Do not offer surprises, objections
or postponements.
Make no assumptions
Readjust your focus and stay that
way.
When all items are successfully
signed and delivered, submit your
resignation. If done by email,
maintain Netiquette standards as outlined throughout this book.
Change all of your electronic,
email and social networks to the proper new information. It is very poor Netiquette to have your old
company email visible to anyone.
Set-up all of your Netiquette processes.
